Celebrity wellness trainers Shivohaam and Vrindaa Mehta recently shared insights into their experiences working with stars such as Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor. In an interview, they highlighted what makes these celebrities unique, particularly focusing on Bachchan’s remarkable mindset and dedication to fitness, even at his age.

Vrinda and Shivohaam, appearing on Humans of Bombay, emphasized Amitabh Bachchan‘s iconic status and his exemplary commitment to exercise. Vrindaa, who has worked with Bachchan for decades, noted, “The mindset is, when you know something is good for you, you just do it. It’s not about comfort or not having time. If Mr. Bachchan can make time to exercise, regular people can also do it.” Her sessions with the veteran actor primarily involve breath work, pranayams, and basic yoga stretches. She praised his discipline and punctuality, recalling how he was always on time for their 6 am training sessions and would even apologize for minor delays.

Shivohaam, who also trains Bachchan, discussed the challenges posed by the actor’s busy schedule. Despite his hectic lifestyle, Bachchan consistently makes time for exercise, whether it’s in the morning, afternoon, or evening, even squeezing in workouts between meetings. This dedication underscores his understanding of the importance of physical fitness.

However, Shivohaam mentioned that he sometimes has to persuade Bachchan to skip evening workouts. “There are times when we have to tell him, ‘Let’s not train right now, it’s not ideal for you.’ The point being, he does take out the time, but evening sessions can disrupt his sleep cycle and aren’t optimal for recovery,” he explained. This advice is crucial, considering the need for adequate rest and recovery, especially for someone as active and busy as Bachchan.

Should people in their 80s regularly workout?

Regular exercise is beneficial for people of all ages, and this holds true even for those in their 80s. Maintaining a workout routine can greatly enhance the quality of life for older adults, offering numerous physical and mental health benefits. However, the type and intensity of exercise should be carefully considered to match an individual’s health status and capabilities.

Engaging in regular physical activity helps to maintain muscle strength, flexibility, and balance, all of which are crucial for preventing falls and injuries. Exercises such as walking, swimming, and light weight training can improve cardiovascular health, enhance mobility, and boost overall stamina. Additionally, physical activity has been shown to improve mental health by reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and enhancing cognitive function.
